Forgiving Dr. Mengele…

May.23, 2010

I just now finished watching “Forgiving Dr. Mengele.”
I suspect it will not surprise you that I cried throughout it’s entirety.
What will surprise you is the reason I was crying.

I was not crying over the atrocities that Eva Kor endured as one of the Mengele Twins.
Everyone is more than familiar with many of those stories.
What I was crying over was this woman’s astounding strength, courage & power to overcome all that she had.
She is, by leaps and bounds, one of the most inspiring human beings that I have ever had the honor to learn about.

If every single one of us had even an ounce of this woman’s wisdom, strength and bravery this would be a far different, far better world.

I won’t downplay the fact that it’s so heavy & intense that I had trouble executing a single deep breath the entire time I was watching.
But you will learn and you will be inspired.
And you’ll come out of it a better human being.

If you can, please watch it.

It’s currently on Netflix Streaming.

“We May Not Live In The Past, But The Past Lives In Us. ~Samuel Pisar Holocaust Survivor
